Informal reception for Dr. Kathleen Yancey

On February 18, the Rhetoric and Writing Program and the General Studies Writing program will co-host Dr. Kathleen Blake Yancey, Kellogg W. Hunt Professor of English and Director of the graduate program in Rhetoric and Composition at Florida State University. Dr. Yancey will serve as the keynote speaker for the BGSU Center for Teaching and Learning Fair on Friday, February 19, at 11 a.m. in the BTSU Grand Ballroom. According to her faculty bio at FSU:

In addition to co-founding and co-editing the journal Assessing Writing, Dr. Yancey has authored, edited, or co-edited eleven scholarly books and two textbooks as well as over 65 articles and book chapters. Her latest volume is the co-edited Electronic Portfolios 2.0, which highlights the research on electronic portfolios conducted under the auspices of the Inter/National Coalition for Electronic Portfolio Research. Her edited collection Delivering College Composition: The Fifth Canon received the 2006-2007 Best Book Award from the Council of Writing Program Administrators. As of July 2009, she is Incoming Editor of College Composition and Communication (CCC), the flagship journal in composition and rhetoric. Currently, she is Past President of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).
