leonard-reads3A couple of New Year updates from the Creative Writing program.

The Creative Writing Program is seeking a poet as the College of Arts & Sciences Distinguished Visiting Writer for Spring 2010. Click here to obtain a detailed position description. Fiction writer Robert Olmstead is currently serving as the Arts and Sciences Distinguished Visiting Writer. Spring 2009 semester, Robert will be in residence and teaching fiction workshops.

We’re all especially proud of Kate Lane (MFA 2008). Her thesis, a collection of stories, Spectacle of the Missing, has been selected as recipient of BGSU’s Distinguished Thesis Award for 2008. Congratulations, Kate! Congratulations also go to James Longley, ’07-’08 winner of the Louise Cooper Award for Best BFA Thesis in Progress. James will receive a $150 book award for his submission of poems, “Box Kite Summer,” “A picture of Life on Mt. Olympus,” and “After Your 2 a.m. Call from the Delta Gate.”
