Judith Claire Mitchell Reads Her Work

last_day_cover_med.jpgJudith Claire Mitchell, graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and author of The Last Day of the War (Pantheon; 2004), will read from her work as part of the Creative Writing program-sponsored Thursday reading series at Prout Chapel on October 18, at 7:30 pm.

Mitchell is the recipient of a James Michener/Copernicus Society of America Fellowship, a James C. McCreight Fellow at the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing, and was recently awarded an Artist’s Fellowship from the Wisconsin Arts Board. Her short stories have appeared in anthologies including Barnstorm: Contemporary Wisconsin Stories, Scribners’ The Best of the Fiction Workshops 1998, What If? and Shaping the Story, as well as in literary magazines such as The Iowa Review, The Colorado Review, and StoryQuarterly.

She currently teaches creative writing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she also serves as Director of the MFA program.

This event is free and open to the public.
